Happy New Year!

Micah and I brought in the New Year in Wagoner, Oklahoma but on new year's day we headed off for Phoenix, Arizona to watch our Cowboys play in the Fiesta Bowl.  Oklahoma State (3) was set to play Stanford (4).  Once in Arizona, we met up with my parents and Steve and Inez.   January 2 we headed to the field for the Fiesta Bowl.  It was fun to see so much orange in Phoenix.  We were told by many people that the orange outnumbered the red however there were a decent amount of Stanford fans at the game.

The game turned out to be VERY exciting.  Even though during the game it felt like we were loosing terribly somehow we always hung in the game. In the end the game went into over-time, thanks to the Stanford kicker missing a game winning field goal!  We couldn't believe it.  I was sure they would make the field goal and the game would be over.  But, we were given another shot in over-time and we proved victorious.  It was a very frustrating, exciting, nail bitting game. In the end it was a blast!

Since we had traveled all the way to Arizona for a football game, we decided to make a mini-vacation out of it and visit the Grand Canyon.  Micah and I had both been there before but it was fun to go together. We decided to take the non-traditional route to get there by riding on a train.  It was a fun, comfortable, way to get to the Canyon.

The Grand Canyon is very majestic and pictures can't really capture it's full beauty but we sure tried. We did a brief 2 mile (I think) hike around the South rim of the canyon. There were frequent picture stops or just stops of stop and look out in awe. Plus, we had an extremely beautiful clear day. What a fun way to end our mini vaca.
