Oklahoma!

The kids and I decided to book end the summer with another trip to Oklahoma.  Labor Day weekend has always been a family gathering for the Gilbert family so the kids and I headed up a week early to spend some time with the Sperling side.

We started our trip by spending a night and day with Micah's brothers family before Kate and Evan had to start school.  It was an exciting day visiting the famous Blue Whale on Rt. 66 and playing on the water slide in the back yard.

Then we traveled on to Wagoner to spend a few days with Grandma and Grandpa.  As usual the kids had a blast playing and helping Grandpa make slushy's.

From Wagoner, the kids and I headed to Stillwater to meet up with Micah, Nana and Papa.  We had a fun Labor Day weekend in Stillwater playing on the farm and going to a Cowboy football game.

Micah decided to take the Tuesday and Wednesday after Labor Day off from work so that we could go float the river.  This was our first time braving taking Hailey on the river.  It was a fun day since we were the only people on the river however, Jacob was getting sick and didn't enjoy the day as much as usual.  But he was a trooper and did his best to have fun.

At last it was time to head home and accept the fact that summer was over.

Memorial Day (week) Fun

The week before Memorial day I decided to head up to Stillwater to visit my grandma who had recently had surgery after a bad fall.  It was a great couple of days just relaxing and spending time with my family. Of course I didn't take many pictures during that but I am happy I was able to spend that time with my grandma.

One day my dear friend Holly decided to take a day off work and come to Stillwater to hang out.  We met that morning at the Wondertorium.  The kids had a blast playing and running around like crazy people.  Then we had a fun but chaotic lunch at Eskimo Joes. It was a great day with Holly and her kids.

On Thursday I drove to Wagoner to visit Micah’s parents.  We were supposed to pick Micah up from the airport that evening but due to issues with United he didn’t make it.   His flight was rescheduled for the next day and REALLY LONG frustrating story later…he ended up getting in the car and driving.  Awful!  So what should have been Micah in Wagoner with us all day Friday ended up him not making it until 1:30am.  Boo. But of course the kids still had a blast.  On Friday we had planned to go camping but the weather was forecasted to be bad AND Micah didn’t make it so Uncle Andy and Aunt Jackie became aunt and uncle of the year by camping out in the back yard with the boys and Kate.  I decided Hailey isn’t quite ready for that.

The kids all had a blast playing at Grandma and Grandpas.  There was lots of time spent in the sandbox, riding bikes, and riding the 4 wheeler with Grandpa.

Hailey thought this chair was only hers

Since we missed our camping night we decided to go to the lake and use our camping spot for a picnic and a morning on the lake riding jet-skis. The boys loved throwing rocks in the water, swimming, playing some ball and of course riding the jet-skis.  This was the first time I felt like I could drive as fast as I wanted with Jacob on it and still feel comfortable.  I even took Hailey out on a ride but poor girl is so tiny the lifejackets swallow her whole.

Hailey was being so cute trying to ride Evan’s little bike that she ended up having her own personal photo-shoot.  Isn’t she adorable?!

The rest of the weekend was just spent hanging out at Grandma and Grandpas.  Once again there was more time playing in the sandbox, the little pool, reading books with Grandma, playing ball in the garage, and just having lots and lots of fun.   What a great weekend making wonderful memories.
