Visit to Santa

Jacob was so excited to visit Santa this year. When we walked up we stopped on the side of Santa to change into our Santa outfits and Santa was waving to Jacob.  It was so cute!  Luckily I had scheduled a reservation for our visit so we didn't have to wait in the long line.  Our time was getting close to Hailey's nap so I was worried how she would do.  She was a little apprehensive but overall I think she did great.  Jacob told Santa he wanted "Star Wars"!  =)

Thanksgiving

* I'm still working on getting pictures from Thanksgiving.  Which is why this post is SO LATE! But I figured we are getting to the point where if I don't post anyway it won't happen.

This year was the first time we have spent Thanksgiving in the USA in 6 years!!  It was so nice to experience Thanksgiving at "home" again.  This was the year for us to spend Thanksgiving with the Sperling family so we spent our entire Thanksgiving week in Oklahoma.

Our first weekend was spent in Stillwater gearing up for the OSU vs. Baylor football game (unfortunately we lost).  We still had fun before the game eating with friends and the Fasold's and did our best to have fun during the game even if it was 25 degrees.

Sunday, we headed to Wagoner to spend most of the week there with Micah's parents and brothers family.  We had lots of time playing outside in the sandbox, going on walks, getting firewood and making fires, ridding on four wheelers.  The big boys had lots of fun playing Ping-Pong and golfing.

Since we are not planning to see the Sperling side of the family during Christmas, we decided to have our Christmas together on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.  The kids had a blast opening gifts and celebrating together.

We spent actual Thanksgiving Day at Andy and Jackie's new home.  It was our first time to get to see their new house so we were excited to visit.  Jackie of course had a beautiful table all set and decorated for our Thanksgiving meal.  As typical Thanksgiving, we had enough food for an army and it was all delicious.  We spent the rest of our time with the Sperling family at Andy's hanging out and playing.  It was a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Our Thanksgiving week was ended with another weekend in Stillwater at Boone Pickens Stadium...but we don't really want to talk about that....

We are Moving!

I'm happy to finally be able to officially announce that the Sperlings will be moving back to the USA!  It felt like a very long waiting period of us knowing it was happening but not being able to tell anyone.  Micah will be starting his job January 1 at Cedar Bayou in Baytown Texas.  We are buying a  house in the Atascocita area which is a suburb of Houston.

Due to Micah's previously scheduled vacation time, we are going home all together for Thanksgiving.  Unfortunately after Thanksgiving Micah will be returning alone to Doha on December 4.  He will be able to return to the USA Christmas eve just in time to spend Christmas with the family.

FAQ

- Yes, we were hoping to move back soon and Micah has been looking for a position.
- Yes, Micah is still with the same company
- No, we aren't moving back to the same area of Houston we lived in before.  Although we are sad about not living by our old friends and church we are excited about living near my parents.
- Yes, we will miss living in the Middle East.  Obviously there are a lot of aspects of living so far away and in this country that we will NOT miss but there are lots of good things too.  We will miss our friends, church, being around different cultures and of course the travel.

Our time in the Middle East was very enjoyable and an extremely fun chapter in our lives.  We have no regrets about our time there and wouldn't change anything.  We learned a lot, traveled a ton, experienced the world, learned new cultures and best of all added two kids to our family.

We are so excited!

Fall Fun

We haven't been out and about much lately since it is still so stinking hot in Doha but we have been having fun at home.

Jacob loves sitting at the table playing with his Legos, jumping off the back of the rental couch, playing with his Batman cave, sword fighting, running, climbing and jumping.  Jacob still doesn't want to do many activities that involve sitting still except for Legos.

Hailey loves to pull stuff out of boxes and drawers, anything that makes noise, cooking at her play kitchen, wrestling with Jacob, and being silly.  She also loves to climb and can get her foot up really high to pull herself up. We are seeing more and more of her personality every day.  She is a silly happy little girl.

We've also been spending time on our back patio playing with the water table and the slide and baby pool.  Hailey hasn't been that interested in the pool but loves the water table.  I guess extended months of playing in the water is a bonus of the Doha heat.
