Oklahoma part 1

After our first weekend in Houston and attempting to get over jet-lag we headed off to Wagoner, Oklahoma to visit Micah's family.  We were excited to meet our newest nephew Evan and for Grandpa to meet Jake for the first time. Jacob also met his Uncle Andy, Aunt Jackie and cousins Kate and Evan for the first time.  We had a blast jet-skiing, eating, taking pictures, and just hanging out.

 We put Jake on his first jet-ski.  As you can see by his face he wasn't too thrilled!

As most of you know, OSU football is very important to this Sperling family so we left Wagoner on Friday to head for Stillwater to watch OSU vs. Texas on Saturday.  My brother and niece Bailey had also come to Stillwater for the weekend so they were able to meet Jake for the first time. Jacob also met his Great Grandma Gilbert and Great Papa Gilbert.  Great Grandma even babysat Jacob while we went to the football game.

In Stillwater we ate at Eskimo Joes, took pictures on campus, played on the farm, and tailgated. While tailgating we were able to spend some brief time hanging out with some friends from college.

First Weekend

On September 20 we boarded our first LONG haul flight to the USA.  While this wasn't our first flight with Jacob, it was our first 16 hour flight.  I was a little bit nervous about all the logistics but felt pretty comfortable since I had Micah to help.  Well, Jacob did awesome on the flight.  He had his own little bed to hang out in and was super lucky to get to lay down flat.  After 24 hours of traveling we made it to Houston! Micah says I was overly chatty with the customs guy but I was just excited that Jake was finally on US soil. Both Nana and Papa came to the airport to pick us up and we headed to a local BBQ joint for some dinner. Yum! Pork BBQ!

Our first weekend in the USA Jacob was able to meet his Great Grandma Eddy, Aunt Selena, Adam, and his cousin Madasin.  He was sad to miss out on meeting  his cousins Beau and Wyatt but maybe next time.  Madasin was super interested in Jake until she realized he couldn't really play with her but I'm sure one day he will be following her around the house. We spent the weekend eating, cooking, chatting, shopping, and getting over jet-lag.

Getting over jet-lag with a baby was a whole new experience. Luckily Jake is young so he wasn't too hard to get switched over.  Essentially when he would wake up in the middle of the night at a non "awake" time I would lay on the couch with him trying to get him to sleep and let him know it was "sleep" time. I'm curious as to how it will go back in Saudi.

On October 16, Jacob turned four months old.  It was quite a big month for him with visiting lots of places and people and also with learning new skills and changing everyday.

Eye Color: deep blue

Hair Color: Ash blonde- still hard to tell what color it will be

Eating Schedule: 5 oz every 3-4 hours. Switched to formula

New Activities: This month Jacob visited the USA for the first time. He rolls over from back to tummy more often than tummy to back. He smiles and laughs out loud. He found his feet and loves to suck on his hands.  He has started reaching for toys, pulling his pacifier out of his mouth and trying to get it back in, he smiles at himself in the mirror. He is balding in the most crazy ways.  He has a bald ring around the sides, slightly bald right on top, and thicker patches in front, on the middle top like a toupee, and a duck tail in the back. Luckily, he pulls it off well and still looks super cute. I can see the new hair growing in and think it will be back to somewhat normal by December. He is such a happy, sweet, cute baby!
